Translator Guide

Extracts from other parts of the Guide for the WTT-System, only with relevant information for translators

The content is from the Editorial Policies and the Page Operations, containing only information needed by translators. So the content is duplicated.

Expressions used

  • Internal links: Leading to pages within the website
  • External links: Leading to other websites
  • Anchor: A link leading to a subtitle on the page. 'anchorname' is the name of the anchor.
  • colsets: The arrangement of the site into columns. In pages with several columns there are code commands creating these columns (with “col” in the code): Don't change!

Restrictions

  • For link names use only lower case without special chars; no blanks, but underscore: translator_guide.
  • Uploads of files are currently limited to about 4MB.
  • If you need an upload of bigger files please send the document to
    Ludger Philips or Benjamin Schiller
  • It is only allowed to upload filetypes like images (.png, .gif, …), sounds (.mp3,…) and .pdf

We want all the pages to look consistent and the visitor experience to be seamless. Please stick to the style of the English pages as per all site formations:

  • Normal web pages without columns: Bold the first line at till the first punctuation mark; in case of very long sentences you may bold the sentence till a semicolon or a unit of meaning (where there could be a point). This helps the eye for an easier orientation on the screen. See example at Full moon meditation
  • Keep the places of the links. There are links in the text or at the upper right corner.

Names

  • Proper names are not translated, or, where needed, in brackets: For example, the name of the organisation “Buena Voluntad en Acción” (a Spanish NGO) is not translated (in the navigation or elsewhere), as an introduction in a text you might use a short explanation or explanation. The same: “Master's Call”, “Pensamientos del Hombre” etc. Some proper names might be translated, like “Paracelsus Center”, French: “Centre Paracelse”.
  • Names that are in use in the WTT and already published elsewhere should be used in the way introduced before and not invented anew. This is particularly the case with book titles, but also with “Network of the Global Diamond Temple / Diamond Network Meditation”. For an easy reference with books, please see the overview of book presentations on good-will.ch. Other expressions you find on the (current) WTT website or please ask Ludger.
  • Dhanishta: There are several ways of writing the word. We use the spelling as it is used in the book Aquarian Master and in other sources, i.e. Dhanishta. Exception: The name of the Spanish Ediciones Dhanishtha will be written with “shth”.
  • Geographical names are translated: “WTT-Gruppe Bodensee” will be Engl. “WTT group Lake of Constance”, “Hamburg” will be “Hambourg” in French.
  • Sequences in the navigation etc. are alpha-numerical in the case of countries. If by translation the names don't start with the same letter, adapt the sequence (Estados Unidos / United States; Germany / Alemania…). This might be applied where it seems necessary to have an alpha-numerical sequence.

Specialities of French Language

Use of capitals and small letters
  • Headlines on pages are written with nouns as capital letters: “Les Enseignements de Sagesse”, with small letters in the subtitles and the navigation: For example navigation: “Les enseignements de sagesse”, “Une organisation vivante”, subtitle in a text: “Les centres du système solaire”.
  • Exceptions: Proper names: Titles of honour: “Les Êtres sublimes”. Names: “La méditation de Dhanishta”, “La lettre de Vaisakh”. But: “La Flamme Violette”.
  • Accents: Capitals keep their accents: “Êtres”.

Specialities of German and French Language

Translation of the English "you"

The target group of the WTT website is not primarily the WTT membership but the general public. And it is not addressing especially young people in an informal style.

Therefore the English “you” is not translated as the German “du” but according to the context as “wir”, “Sie” (with information like: “Wenden Sie sich bitte an…”) or with an impersonal phrasing. In French it is translated as “vous” or “on” or in the appellative form of the 2nd person plural: “Méditez”.

How to edit a page

Dokuwiki has a simple Wiki Formatting Syntax. For the main features like headlines, bold or italic font, images and so on use the toolbar on the top of the edit window. It looks like that:

Basic text formatting

DokuWiki supports bold, italic, underlined and monospaced texts. Of course you can combine all these.

DokuWiki supports **bold**, //italic//, __underlined__ and monospaced texts.
Of course you can **__//combine//__** all these.

Paragraphs and lines

Paragraphs are created from blank lines. If you want to force a newline without a paragraph, you can use two backslashes followed by a whitespace or the end of line.

This is some text with some linebreaks
Note that the two backslashes are only recognized at the end of a line
or followed by
a whitespace \\this happens without it.

You should use forced newlines only if really needed.

Internal links are created by using square brackets. You can either just give a pagename or use an additional link text.

Internal links are created by using square brackets. You can either just give
a pagename or use an additional link text.

Wiki pagenames are converted to lowercase automatically, special characters are not allowed.

You can use namespaces by using a colon in the pagename: translators-guide

You can use some:namespaces by using a colon in the pagename.

A link to a sub-title of a document is possible via an anchor. The section of the anchor has to be devided by an “#” after the pagename.

A space must be filled with a “_”.

To define an anchor anywhere just use , where 'anchorname' is the name of the anchor.

To send an email to ab@c.de with subject 'this subject' write: send email.

send email

To set the email body 'bodytext', too, write: Paracelsus-Center

<html><a href="mailto:ab@c.de?subject=this subject&body=bodytext">Paracelsus-Center</a></html>

There are links which don't show up in the browser field with normal navigation, the links to the book sections. If you want to translate / edit the texts in the book description, you can do so by adding the name of the section with a - :

The link leads to the general section, for editing, to enter into the admin. There are the following sections: -general, -healing, -meditation, -astrology, -wisdom, -masters.

You have to enter the sections from a link with

"www.worldteachertrust.org/en/web/publications/kpk" or
"www.worldteachertrust.org/en/web/publications/ek",

you cannot enter with a link which contains “overview”.
