Useful Tips

Clearing Cache

If you want to see a page as it looks like in other browsers and not as you might see it on your screen, please add ?purge=true to the link. This will take away any cache you might have in your browser. See here the home-page of worldteachertrust.org.

Image Files

Always use jpg files for the (book cover)images. Please do not use .gif files for the images on the new WTT system.

Image shadow

Please add a shadow to the pictures (book presentations, photos of Masters, etc.) on the new website. You can add the shadow to a picture by adding these tags:

<wrap image_shadow> {{images:mkpk.jpeg?220x280&nolink |Master KPK}} </wrap>

You can look at a sample at: Master KPK

Book Cover Image File Naming Convention

The name of the book cover image file is the same in different language domains. You only need to change the language name in the name space and the book cover image for that language, if it exists, will automatically be used.

<wrap image_shadow>{{en:master_ek.jpg?220&nolink|Master E.K. The New Age Teacher}}</wrap>

For example, when translating this book presentation to German, the “en” above should be replaced by “de”

<wrap image_shadow>{{de:master_ek.jpg?220&nolink|Meister E.K. Der Lehrer des neuen Zeitalters}}</wrap>

You can specify &nolink after the name of the filename of the image to tell dokuwiki to not automatically add a text link below the image.

Example:

<wrap image_shadow> {{images:mkpk.jpeg?220x280&nolink |Master KPK}} </wrap>

Uploading media files

You can look at in the manual at Uploading media files

Page URLs in different languages

The URL of any page in multiple languages should be identical except for the language domain. This is important as the user can go to a page, say English version, and just click on the Spanish version and the page would automatically switch to the Spanish version. If the URLs in different languages for this page are not identical (except for the language domain), then this will not happen.

For example, to create a Spanish version of the Master KPK page, take the English version URL:

http://dev.worldteachertrust.org/en/web/master/kpk and just replace the “en” with “es”.
The Spanish version URL of this page should be: http://dev.worldteachertrust.org/es/web/master/kpk

PDF file naming convention

For the same reason as above, the PDF file names across different languages should be consistent. Media file names should be all lower case. Unlike the URLs, the language is specified by a single character for media files.

For example, the book of Master MN is called: http://worldteachertrust.org/bk/pdf/m_mn_e.pdf with the “e” representing the English version. Spanish version should have the same name except that “e” should be replaced with “s” to indicate Spanish version. The Spanish version book name should be: http://worldteachertrust.org/bk/pdf/m_mn_s.pdf

Samples of different layouts/tips

You will find lots of samples of different layouts/tips at: templates.

For the same reason as above, the menu and footer in different languages should be consistent. When changing the menu file to translate to different languages, only translate the words (highlighted in red box below and before the “=” sign) into different languages. Do not translate or change the link which is after the “=” sign. See the example below.

Specifying the size of the image

You can specify the size of the image by typing in the pixels you want.

To scale an image proportionally, give the wanted width in pixels:

{{wiki:dokuwiki-128.png?20}}

This image is scaled down to a width of 20 pixels.

When you give the width and height, the image will be scaled to exactly that height, ignoring the aspect ratio:

{{wiki:dokuwiki-128.png?20x50}}

This image is scaled to a width of 20 pixels and a height of 50 pixels.

Example with a width of 220 pixels and a height of 280 pixels:

<wrap image_shadow> {{images:mkpk.jpeg?220x280&nolink |Master KPK}} </wrap>
