Editorial Policies
A collection of editorial "How to do"s
General
- Changes in the navigation are done by Benjamin, Ludger or Vijay (there are some tricky specialities). In case, just send an e-mail.
Page Style / Placement of Links
We want all the pages to look consistent and the visitor experience to be seamless. One of the key things to achieve this is have consistent style across all pages and across all languages. Please use the below style guide as you work on different types of pages:
- Normal web pages without colsets: Bold the first line at till the first punctuation mark; in case of very long sentences you may bold the sentence till a semicolon or a unit of meaning (where there could be a point). This helps the eye for an easier orientation on the screen. See example at Full moon meditation
- Links within the page and links to other pages: should be at the top right corner of the page with small size text. See example at: Full moon meditation
- Links to downloads: Links to media downloads (PDF or MP3) should be at right side of the page with small sized text. See example at: Download example
- Order of listing links on a page: When listing multiple links, follow this sequence – Links to the top level of the section and the next immediate higher level subsection should be listed first. Followed by the links within the same page. Links to other pages should be listed next. Any links to downloads should be listed next. Links to books should be listed last. See example at: Fire Ritual
Names
- Proper names are not translated, or, where needed, in brackets: For example, the name of the organisation “Buena Voluntad en Acción” (a Spanish NGO) is not translated (in the navigation or elsewhere), as an introduction in a text you might use a short explanation or explanation. The same: “Master's Call”, “Pensamientos del Hombre” etc. Some proper names might be translated, like “Paracelsus Center”, French: “Centre Paracelse”.
- Names that are in use in the WTT and already published elsewhere should be used in the way introduced before and not invented anew. This is particularly the case with book titles, but also with “Network of the Global Diamond Temple / Diamond Network Meditation”. For an easy reference with books, please see the overview of book presentations on good-will.ch. Other expressions you find on the (current) WTT website or please ask Ludger.
- Dhanishta: There are several ways of writing the word. We use the spelling as it is used in the book Aquarian Master and in other sources, i.e. Dhanishta. Exception: The name of the Spanish Ediciones Dhanishtha will be written with “shth”.
- Geographical names are translated: “WTT-Gruppe Bodensee” will be Engl. “WTT group Lake of Constance”, “Hamburg” will be “Hambourg” in French.
- Sequences in the navigation etc. are alpha-numerical in the case of countries. If by translation the names don't start with the same letter, adapt the sequence (Estados Unidos / United States; Germany / Alemania…). This might be applied where it seems necessary to have an alpha-numerical sequence.
Specialities of French Language
Use of capitals and small letters
- Headlines on pages are written with nouns as capital letters: “Les Enseignements de Sagesse”, with small letters in the subtitles and the navigation: For example navigation: “Les enseignements de sagesse”, “Une organisation vivante”, subtitle in a text: “Les centres du système solaire”.
- Exceptions: Proper names: Titles of honour: “Les Êtres sublimes”. Names: “La méditation de Dhanishta”, “La lettre de Vaisakh”. But: “La Flamme Violette”.
- Accents: Capitals keep their accents: “Êtres”.
